Statement

All my work is made digitally, whether I directly capture what is in front of me through video, or I conjure up my own visuals with vibrant colors and familiar objects. As human beings, what we see and experience is more common with one another than we think, but we do not often mention it aloud. As a typically quiet individual in social settings, my mind overflows with this ideology, but my throat stops me from expressing that verbally. Therefore, I turn to art to pose the questions that others usually ask their peers with ease: "Has anyone else seen this? Am I the only one who feels this way about it? Was I the only one who thought of this and responded that way?"

I use modern technology to create for multiple reasons. In today's world, screens are in front of us 24/7, so why not make what we are looking at worthwhile? Furthermore, the internet and digital archives have given artists like me the freedom to either share our perspectives with a larger audience or keep all our pieces in one place long-term. A charcoal doodle in someone's sketchbook in their bedroom does not get seen by more than a few pairs of eyes. A family photo album holds significant memory but is at risk of slipping away in a natural disaster. A city monument can only be treasured by local residents and a handful of lucky tourists.

With electronic devices puppeteering the human race, there is also a fear that it will result in isolation, and we stop relying on interpersonal connection. This is why I aim to make my work as universal and relatable as possible, and why I hope to use it as an extension of my voice when I struggle to speak up.
